Name of Church: North Point Church900 N. Lewis Ave Winthrop Harbor, IL 60096 Senior Pastor: Dennis Corley Website: www.northpointchurch.org 1) What is the mission/vision of your church? "Reaching Up, Reaching Out, Reaching In" 2) Can you speak briefly about your call to ministry and this church? How long have you been a pastor here? I experienced God's call into ministry when I was in the eighth grade while at Christian Youth Camp. I began pastoring a church at the beginning of 1960. I have been founding pastor for two new churches. I have been at North Point Church for over 17 years. 3) How would you describe your worship service? We have seeker friendly celebration services. We use a worship band, back up singers and contemporary music and re-arranged hymns. We meet to celebrate our Love for God, to grow in that love, and to share joy in what He is doing in our lives. 4) If you had one minute to tell someone about your church, what would you tell them? North Point Church began as an effort to not only plant a new church, but specifically target the unconnected (those that do not know Christ and those that are unconnected with a church home). We want to minister to "everyman." Our five focal points are Weekend services, Children's Ministry, Student Ministry, Small Groups, and Life-Guard Ministry. The life of North Point Church centers in those five areas which we do with excellence. Those focal points guide us to do our very best for Christ. Our Life-Guard Ministry includes being externally focused to help people, attempting to take people from where they are and take them where God wants them to be, benevolence, and carrying out the mission our Lord gave us. North Point Church is characterized by love, acceptance, and forgiveness. We want to love others in the name of Christ. You will find North Point Church to be a warm, friendly and loving people who are struggling daily to serve our Lord. 5) Do you have a story of a recent move of God at the church you would like to share? We have always been a church planting church, helping work in eight different, new church plants and have sent staff to plant three new churches in various locations. Recently, God stirred us to become "One church-in Many Locations." We formed a partnership with Chicago District Evangelistic Association, a church planting group that has launched new churches in Chicagoland for over 100 years. As we looked at our region, God has moved us to launch a new campus in Warren Township. We are planting to launch another site every 2-3 years. We are looking to launch our new campus in late fall, 2008. 6) Why are you involved with Catalyst, and how has Catalyst helped you fulfill the vision and mission of your church? Individual congregations have not heard the pray of Jesus in John 17. Our goal is to work to bring Christians together from various backgrounds to love people in the name of Christ. It is a great effort work to be a 21st century church characterized by loving others and one another. We are "Becoming a church to do Good Deeds, to create Good Will, to share Good News." 7) What Catalyst initiatives is your church involved in and why? We are actively involved in Sharefest, the Backpack project, and the different learning and fellowship events to help create that bond that draws us together. 8) How can other churches be lifting up your church in prayer? Especially lift us up as we begin our new campus in Warren Twp. reaching out to the unconnected in that area. Please be praying for the Holy Spirit's guidance as we join Him in reaching people for Christ. 9) Is there anything else you would like to share? Praise God for the unity that Catalyst works to accomplish!!
